Help Students Build Confidence, Make Healthy Choices, and Thrive.

Want hands-on experience working with youth while building skills for a career in counseling, psychology, social work, education, public health, or nonprofit leadership?

RIZE Prevention is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps Member to work directly with middle school students across Greenville County through the iRIZE program. This unique opportunity combines youth mentorship, mental health advocacy, prevention education, community outreach, and school engagement.

As an AmeriCorps Member, you’ll build relationships with students during one of the most important stages of their development. You’ll encourage healthy decision-making, support social and emotional growth, help students navigate challenges, and connect families to resources that strengthen long-term well-being.

This position is ideal for recent graduates, gap-year students, aspiring counselors, educators, social workers, youth development professionals, public health professionals, and anyone interested in building hands-on experience working with youth and families.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Direct experience working with middle school students
  • Experience in youth development, mentorship, and prevention programming
  • Professional exposure to mental health, behavioral health, and community-based services
  • Training in evidence-based prevention and mental health practices
  • Public speaking and group facilitation experience
  • Partnership-building experience with schools, families, and community organizations
  • Event planning, outreach, and program coordination skills
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals in youth development and prevention
  • A strong foundation for careers in counseling, education, psychology, social work, public health, nonprofit leadership, and youth services
  • $21,000 living stipend paid biweekly throughout your service term
  • $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of service
  • Student loan forbearance and interest accrual benefits for eligible federal loans

What You’ll Do

  • Build positive and meaningful relationships with middle school students
  • Support students in developing healthy coping skills, decision-making abilities, and resilience
  • Serve as a trusted mentor and positive role model
  • Assist with school presentations, student events, pep rallies, and prevention initiatives
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and families
  • Promote awareness of prevention resources and support services
  • Support outreach, communications, and community engagement efforts
  • Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and impact measurement
  • Represent RIZE Prevention at school and community events
  • Help create safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive

Why This Role Matters

The adults students connect with can shape the trajectory of their lives. Through mentorship, encouragement, prevention education, and resource connection, you’ll help young people build confidence, strengthen resilience, and create healthier futures for themselves and their families.
